Connect Your Mr Beam with Beamwire
With the new Beamwire cable, you can connect your computer directly to your Mr Beam – without requiring Wi-Fi or a router. This is especially useful for schools, workshops, and environments where no stable network connection is available.
Important: Beamwire requires BeamOS 2.0 v2.6.0 or newer.
What is Beamwire?
Beamwire is a specially developed connection cable that allows your computer to communicate directly with your Mr Beam. Instead of using Wi-Fi or a router, the connection is established directly through the cable.
How to Connect Your Mr Beam with Beamwire
- Turn on your Mr Beam.
- Connect the USB plug of the Beamwire cable to your computer.
- Connect the network plug to the network port underneath the key switch on your Mr Beam.
- Open Google Chrome on your computer.
- Enter the following IP address into your browser address bar:
169.254.123.123
The Mr Beam interface should now open directly in your browser.

For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome.
Please also make sure your Mr Beam is running at least BeamOS v2.6.0. Older versions do not support Beamwire.
Troubleshooting
The interface does not open?
Please check the following:
- Is the Beamwire cable connected correctly?
- Is your Mr Beam powered on?
- Are you using Google Chrome?
- Was the IP address entered correctly?

The connection is unstable?
- Disconnect and reconnect the Beamwire cable.
- Restart your Mr Beam.
- Restart your browser.
- Check whether VPNs, firewalls, or security settings are blocking the connection.
When is Beamwire Especially Useful?
Beamwire is particularly helpful if your Wi-Fi connection is unstable, your router is located in another room, or school and company networks block local devices. It is also a simple and reliable solution for first-time setup and makerspace environments.
