Tips for working with leather:

Caution: Artificial leather often contains components like PVC, which should not be laser-cut or engraved with Mr Beam! Please request a full composition of your material from your manufacturer / vendor. We have put together a list of materials and chemical components, which should not be laser-cut with Mr Beam in this article.
  • Artificial leather vs natural lather: artificial leather is much easier to work with and does not produce an unpleasant smell, as opposed to natural leather.

  • Buckling: if your material starts to buckle during laser-cutting or engraving, try reducing the laser intensity or increasing the speed, to prevent the material from getting too much heat.

  • To clean your finished product made from natural leather, we recommend only using a brush, no aggressive cleaning agents or water. Artificial leather can also be cleaned with a slightly wet sponge.

  • Vegan laser leather: We also have vegan leather in dark and bright brown on offer in our Shop. This material is a composite material from paper and plastics, is tear-proof and even washable! (also for the washing machine) To achieve a leather look, knead the material with your hands, wash it and iron it.
